NEW RIDER

Bringing our community together is at the heart of what we do. Driven by our passion for getting more kids on bikes, we ensure that everyone is included!

Welcome to the Tennessee League!

If you are looking for a fun, safe, and engaging way to explore the outdoors with friends on bikes, then you are in the right place.

WHAT IS NICA?

The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is a leader in the youth mountain biking movement. With leagues across the country, NICA is transforming youth sports by using mountain bikes as a tool to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities. In NICA, there are no tryouts and no benches; everyone rides, and everyone has a place.

The Tennessee Interscholastic Cycling League is proud to be part of the NICA community. Together with parents and teachers, we develop school-based bicycle programs for student-athletes across the state of Tennessee.

New Rider Information for Families and How to Get Started

Our programs, practices, and event season begins with the pre-season in April, moving into our regular season in July and concludes in early November. Team development and coach training begins in March.

Step 1: Determine if a team is available in your area.
You can find a list of current teams on our team information page. Once you have reviewed the list, please reach out to your League Director to get connected. If there isn’t a team nearby, parents can start one—no experience is necessary, as we provide all the training and resources needed. Students may also participate as independent riders.

Step 2: Become a NICA-Tennessee League member in the NICA Pit Zone.
Your head coach or team director will send you an invitation to the NICA Pit Zone, our secure online registration system. Once you receive the link via email, complete your registration to become “practice and/or race ready.”

Step 3: Enjoy being part of your team.
We encourage parents to get involved by volunteering as a coach or assisting during event weekends. To learn more about our community, please visit our Community Events Page.
